YAKITORI EVENINGS AT NIHONBASHI HONTEN (MAIN) RESTAURANT

Anyone who takes an evening strolling through any busy city in Japan will probably come across the clouds of aromatic smoke of yakitori wafting and the sound of laughter, coming from establishments crowded with people pouring each other saké and eating yakitori, a popular after-work meal.
Nihonbashi’s flagship restaurant located at Galle face terrace, Colombo 03, introduces yakitori evenings for those who love the pleasure of after work relaxation enjoying fine Japanese cuisine.
Yakitori, a dish of char grilled, bite-sized pieces of fresh chicken on bamboo skewers,  is not so much of a full meal as it is an accompaniment for beer & sake. One feature of yakitori is that all parts of the chicken, including the organs and tail meat, can be used, not just the thigh and breast. With these different meaty textures, lightly charred and flavored with a fragrant sauce or salt, everything goes down easily, and one ends up polishing off quite a lot.
Nihonbashi’s yakitori menu range include spectacular chicken wings and other chicken specialties as well as non-chicken grilled items such as Tomorokoshi [grilled corn], ebi shio yaki [salt grilled prawn]
There's also a surprisingly good wine list, selected to go with the yakitori.
Nihonbashi is the only restaurant in Colombo to use hard wood charcoal (not fuel induced briquettes) every night. Using charcoal is simply not a barbeque; with a heat that gas or electric cannot match. It is this heat that seals anything that is cooked and makes it more juicy and tender when cooked right.
So don’t miss out on this opportunity to enjoy a truly elegant dinner at Nihonbashi in style with great companionship. The restaurant is open from 6pm – 10.30 pm for dinner and reservations are just a call away on 011-2323847.
